Kingdom Here, Kingdom Come 4
After the tumult of this past election cycle in the US, it feels like we need a break, especially in the last two weeks. Some are setting their sites on more significant turmoil and seceding everything from social media entities to news channels and states to the United States. It cannot be this way for the church; we are citizens of a different Kingdom first, last, and always. The Kingdom of God has broken into the old kingdom of this world, and today is the day that the church must live out her real legacy. This is the good news. Without delving into the world’s politics, Terry opens the door to a new politic. The Kingdom of Heaven is where God’s will is actively being done.
Terry proclaims the one Gospel through the history, research, rememberings and faith expressed in the text of the Gospel According to Luke. Jesus himself is the good news expressed by Luke. Beginning with the birth narratives unique to Luke's presentation, the good news of the Kingdom explodes into faithful view as each account, teaching, parable and event lived out and offered by Jesus, the Messiah-King, is examined the way Luke seemingly examined Jesus in his own work. Here we find a Jesus to love, a Jesus to follow, and ultimately a Jesus to worship.
