A Picture of Prayer 1
We all have traditions - with family, routes we take to work....more than habits, yet we can become so used to them that we don't put much thought into the meaning of that tradition. Terry takes a look at Matthew 6:9-13, the beginning of one of those traditions we have as Christ followers that can lose the meaning and just become words we say in order to get to the next item on our list: The Lord's Prayer. How do the words of the Lord's Prayer affect us as a Church, as a congregation, as an individual? As we dig deeper into this Scripture, we see much more than just a poetic phrase, but an invitation into a relationship with the creator of the universe.
Series Information
The Lord's Prayer is not a rote recitation towards apathy and boredom. What we call the Lord's Prayer, prayed by Jesus when His disciples asked Him how to pray, is rich with depth and meaning, while at the same time simple in its mission and purpose. Using pictures and symbols from the time Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount, coupled with the early days of the church, Terry offers a perspective of our praying, and this prayer, that fires the imagination.
