I Belong to Jesus — In One Breath

We’ve turned baptism into a spectacle, a debate, and occasionally a logistics problem — water temperature, technique, the right way to do it. What we don’t talk about as often is the sentence underneath all of it: the one said right before someone steps into the water. This week, Terry takes one confession — “I belong to Jesus, and I want to follow Him — by His grace and with His help — all my days” — and asks what it actually means to say it.

Are You Here to Say?

A Baptism Series about Belonging, Following, and Enduring

Baptism isn’t just a ceremony. It’s a confession—one that speaks to who we are, who we follow, and how we live from this moment forward. In this series, we explore the heart of that confession through a simple but powerful phrase spoken by those entering the waters of baptism in our community:

“I belong to Jesus, and I want to follow Him—by His grace and with His help—all my days.”

Each message walks through a part of that confession:

  • “I Belong to Jesus” – The grace of being claimed by Christ.

  • “And I Want to Follow Him” – The call to walk in His ways.

  • “By His Grace and With His Help—All My Days” – A life of daily trust and perseverance.

Whether you’ve been baptized, are thinking about it, or simply want to better understand this ancient act of surrender and grace, this series invites you to reflect on your own story of faith. No matter where you are in that story—asking questions, standing strong, or finding your way back—you are welcome here.
