Israel, An Advent Song of Hope

This first Sunday of Advent invites us to step out of the frantic holiday clock and into the way the Church keeps time. Before we ever light a candle, Scripture reminds us that history isn’t random and our lives aren’t adrift; time becomes meaningful only inside a story, and the Church has always kept time by the story of Jesus. In a world shaped by consumer calendars and cultural countdowns, Advent re-teaches us how to wait, how to hope, and how to live toward the coming King. Today we light the Prophecy Candle—the Candle of Hope—and remember that God is with us, God has come, and God is coming again.

Series Information

Advent and Christmas are filled with familiar sounds—but beneath the noise and hurry, Scripture offers a quieter music. Scripture Sings is a six-part sermon series that listens for those ancient songs and lets them shape how we move through the season.

Across these messages, we hear voices of hope, faith, trust, and peace—songs born not from perfection or certainty, but from waiting, obedience, and God’s steady presence in real lives. Together, they invite us to slow down, pay attention, and rediscover Christmas not as something to rush through, but as something to receive.

God works patiently, beautifully, and on purpose, often more slowly than we expect, but always with care. As the light of Advent gives way to Christmas and beyond, Scripture Sings calls us to listen, trust, and walk faithfully in the time we’ve been given.
