Countryside is people who live life together in Community
We live life together following Jesus as a People.
Community Life — Loving Others
We create a new community in the Gospel. "You are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit." --Ephesians 2:19-22
It is important to us that we recognize this new community is family. Families are not formal, rigid or ritualistic. Families are genuine, loving, forgiving and generous... Our gatherings reflect this. As people of God we live out our faith in community: growing in truth, sharing our lives, and living out the life of Christ. We're real and genuine people who are living honest lives focused on Jesus, and His way.
Every human has been created in the image of God, yet is unique, different and given different talents, gifts and characteristics. The god we worship is a holy community of persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Since we are created in the image of God, we are designed for community.
Community at Countryside is about making family. The life of the church is not a solo-life. When Jesus said, “Come follow me,” he wasn’t talking to one person. He called many people from different walks of life. He called together a group of people who would genuinely get to know each other and ultimately love one another. So, community at Countryside is also about learning to love people who are different than you. The beautiful thing in Christian community is we often find ourselves worshiping and serving side-by-side with people we have very little in common with except Jesus. So we love people older than us and younger than us, people from different ethnic backgrounds, people with different political views, people with different educational backgrounds, people who live in different neighborhoods than us.
Community may start with a friendship, but it goes beyond our inner circle of friends to embrace others as family, as brothers and sisters. In this we demonstrate before the world a Kingdom of people living together in harmony, mutual respect and love.
